Lovegood Cavaliers

Thank you for your interest in our Cavaliers! 
 
Our Cavaliers are bred in our home in central North Carolina. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are small dogs who like to snuggle in your lap but also love to run in the back yard, go on hikes, and so much more. They are friendly dogs that fall in love with anyone that they meet and typically get along well with other pets and children. If you ask us, they are truly the perfect breed! Our Cavaliers are members of our family and live under our feet. Our goal is to produce beautiful Cavaliers with a focus on improving the overall health of the breed.

As a veterinarian myself, I take breeding very seriously and prioritize health when breeding Cavaliers. My Cavaliers are OFA certified for hearts by a cardiologist (echoed when possible), eyes by an ophthalmologist, and patellas. Their hips are also evaluated for dysplasia through OFA. They are DNA tested (or status known by parentage) for Dry Eye/Curly Coat Syndrome and Episodic Falling Syndrome. Whenever possible, they are MRI scanned to evaluate for Chiari-like malformation and Syringomyelia. All of my dogs and puppies are registered with AKC and CKCSC-USA. 

My puppies are raised in my home. They are in a puppy pen next to my bed for the first 3-4 weeks, then moved into the living room. They are exposed to daily home life and I make active efforts to expose them to a plethora of sights, sounds, smells, and experiences before they leave here. My goal is to produce adaptable, confident, sweet puppies. I use some, but not all, Puppy Culture socialization methods. They also go to work with me frequently, so they are very acclimated to car rides and veterinary hospitals (of course top precautions are taken to ensure minimal disease risk). We make a conscious effort to match puppies with the right home based on temperament and screen puppy buyers very carefully to ensure a Lovegood Cavaliers puppy is right for them.
